Position Overview

• Premium Locums Group is placing a highly qualified Physician (MD or DO) for a locum tenens assignment in Winchester, Virginia. This is a premium-compensated opportunity at $325/hour in one of Virginia’s most strategically located and historically rich cities.
• Winchester sits at the northern tip of the Shenandoah Valley, just 72 miles from Washington, D.C. It is well-served by a growing regional healthcare infrastructure, including Valley Health System — one of the leading community health networks in the Mid-Atlantic region. The area offers an outstanding quality of life, natural beauty, and direct proximity to major metropolitan areas.
• Compensation: $325 per hour — one of the highest locum physician rates currently available on the Premium Locums platform. Travel and accommodation are included as part of the standard assignment package.

Assignment Details

Role Responsibilities

The successful physician will be expected to:

• Provide high-quality clinical care within their specialty as assigned by the facility
• Work assigned shift schedules — duration and times to be confirmed per facility agreement
• Collaborate effectively with the facility’s existing clinical team
• Complete accurate, timely documentation in the facility’s EMR system
• Maintain compliance with all Virginia state, federal, and facility-specific protocols
• Communicate proactively with the Premium Locums placement team throughout the assignment

Qualifications & Requirements

• Active, unrestricted MD or DO licensure in Virginia (or ability to obtain promptly)
• Board certification or board eligibility in the relevant specialty
• DEA license or eligibility for DEA registration in Virginia
• Minimum 1–2 years of post-residency clinical experience in the applicable specialty
• Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR) — specific system TBC with facility
• Strong interpersonal and clinical communication skills

Preferred

• Prior locum tenens or travel assignment experience
• Familiarity with community hospital or regional health system settings
• Active Virginia license (accelerates credentialing timeline)
